בשנת תרתי עסרי לאחז מלך שבטא דבית יהודה מלך הושע בר אלה בשומרון על ישראל תשע שנין:
shnyn thshe yshral el bshwmrwn alh br hwshe mlk yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk lakhz esry thrthy bshnth
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel for nine years.

ועבד דביש קדם יי לחוד לא כמלכי ישראל דהוו קדמוהי:
qdmwhy dhww yshral kmlky la lkhwd yy qdm dbysh webd
He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.

עלוהי סליק שלמנאסר מלכא דאתור והוה ליה הושע עבדא ואתיב ליה תקרובתא:
thqrwbtha lyh wathyb ebda hwshe lyh whwh dathwr mlka shlmnasr slyq elwhy
Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him; and Hoshea became his servant, and brought him tribute.

ואשכח מלכא דאתור בהושע מירדא די שלח אזגדין לות סוא מלכא דמצרים ולא אסיק תקרובתא למלכא דאתור כשנא בשנא ואחדיה מלכא דאתור ואסריה בבית אסירי:
asyry bbyth wasryh dathwr mlka wakhdyh bshna kshna dathwr lmlka thqrwbtha asyq wla dmtsrym mlka swa lwth azgdyn shlkh dy myrda bhwshe dathwr mlka washkkh
The king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.

וסליק מלכא דאתור בכל ארעא וסליק לשמרון וצר עלה תלת שנין:
shnyn thlth elh wtsr lshmrwn wslyq area bkl dathwr mlka wslyq
Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
6
בשתא תשיעתא להושע כבש מלכא דאתור ית שמרון ואגלי ית ישראל לאתור ואותיב יתהון בחלח ובחבור נהר גוזן וקירוי מדי:
mdy wqyrwy gwzn nhr wbkhbwr bkhlkh ythhwn wawthyb lathwr yshral yth wagly shmrwn yth dathwr mlka kbsh lhwshe thshyetha bshtha
In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

והוה כד חבו בני ישראל קדם יי אלההון דאסיק יתהון מארעא דמצרים מתחות יד פרעה מלכא דמצרים ודחילו טעות עממיא:
emmya Tewth wdkhylw dmtsrym mlka preh yd mthkhwth dmtsrym marea ythhwn dasyq alhhwn yy qdm yshral bny khbw kd whwh
It was so because the children of Israel had sinned against Yahweh their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

ואזלו בגזירת עממיא דתריך יי מן קדם בני ישראל ומלכי ישראל דעבדו:
debdw yshral wmlky yshral bny qdm mn yy dthryk emmya bgzyrth wazlw
and walked in the statutes of the nations whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they made.

ואמרו בני ישראל מלין דלא כשרין קדם יי אלההון ובנו להון במן בכל קרויהון ממגדל תקיף עד קירוין כריכן:
krykn qyrwyn ed thqyp mmgdl qrwyhwn bkl bmn lhwn wbnw alhhwn yy qdm kshryn dla mlyn yshral bny wamrw
The children of Israel secretly did things that were not right against Yahweh their God; and they built high places for themselves in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city;

ואקימו להון קמן ואשירין על כל רמא מנטלא ותחות כל אילן עבוף:
ebwp ayln kl wthkhwth mnTla rma kl el washyryn qmn lhwn waqymw
and they set up for themselves pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree;

ואסיקו בוסמין תמן על כל במתא בעממיא דאגלי יי מן קדמיהון ועבדו קדמוהי פתגמין בישין לארגזא קדם יי:
yy qdm largza byshyn pthgmyn qdmwhy webdw qdmyhwn mn yy dagly bemmya bmtha kl el thmn bwsmyn wasyqw
and there they burned incense in all the high places, as the nations whom Yahweh carried away before them did; and they did wicked things to provoke Yahweh to anger;

ופלחו ית בעליא די אמר יי להון לא תעבדון ית פתגמא הדין:
hdyn pthgma yth thebdwn la lhwn yy amr dy belya yth wplkhw
and they served idols, of which Yahweh had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”

ואסהיד יי בישראל וביהודה ביד כל ספר כל מילף למימר תובו מאורחתכון בישתא וטרו פקודי וקימי ככל אוריתא דפקדית ית אבהתכון ודשלחית לותכון ביד עבדי נבייא:
nbyya ebdy byd lwthkwn wdshlkhyth abhthkwn yth dpqdyth awrytha kkl wqymy pqwdy wTrw byshtha mawrkhthkwn thwbw lmymr mylp kl spr kl byd wbyhwdh byshral yy washyd
Yet Yahweh testified to Israel and to Judah, by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

ולא קבילו ואקשיאו ית קדלהון כקדלא דאבהתהון דלא הימנו במימרא דיי אלההון:
alhhwn dyy bmymra hymnw dla dabhthhwn kqdla qdlhwn yth waqshyaw qbylw wla
Notwithstanding, they would not listen, but hardened their neck like the neck of their fathers who didn’t believe in Yahweh their God.

וקצו בקימוהי ובגזירתיה די גזר עם אבהתהון ובסהדותיה דאסהיד בהון וטעו בתר טעותא והוו ללמא ובתר עממיא די בסחרניהון די פקיד יי יתהון בדיל דלא למעבד כותהון:
kwthhwn lmebd dla bdyl ythhwn yy pqyd dy bskhrnyhwn dy emmya wbthr llma whww Tewtha bthr wTew bhwn dashyd wbshdwthyh abhthhwn em gzr dy wbgzyrthyh bqymwhy wqtsw
They rejected his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom Yahweh had commanded them that they should not do like them.

ושבקו ית כל פקודיא דיי אלההון ועבדו להון מתכא תרין עגלין ועבדו אשירתא וסגידו לכל חילי שמיא ופלחו ית בעלא:
bela yth wplkhw shmya khyly lkl wsgydw ashyrtha webdw eglyn thryn mthka lhwn webdw alhhwn dyy pqwdya kl yth wshbqw
They abandoned all the commandments of Yahweh their God, and made molten images for themselves, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served Baal.

ואעברו ית בניהון וית בנתיהון בנורא וקסמו קסמין ונחישו וחשיבו למעבד דביש קדם יי לארגזא קדמוהי:
qdmwhy largza yy qdm dbysh lmebd wkhshybw wnkhyshw qsmyn wqsmw bnwra bnthyhwn wyth bnyhwn yth waebrw
They caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger.

והוה רגז מן קדם יי לחדא בישראל ואגלינון מארעא בית שכינתיה לא אשתאר לחוד שבטא דבית יהודה בלחודוהי:
blkhwdwhy yhwdh dbyth shbTa lkhwd ashthar la shkynthyh byth marea waglynwn byshral lkhda yy qdm mn rgz whwh
Therefore Yahweh was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight. There was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

אף דבית יהודה לא נטרו ית פקודיא דיי אלההון ואזלו בגזירת ישראל דעבדו:
debdw yshral bgzyrth wazlw alhhwn dyy pqwdya yth nTrw la yhwdh dbyth ap
Also Judah didn’t keep the commandments of Yahweh their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

וקץ יי בכל זרעא דישראל וענינון ומסרינון ביד בזוזין עד דאגלינון מאתר בית שכנתיה:
shknthyh byth mathr daglynwn ed bzwzyn byd wmsrynwn wenynwn dyshral zrea bkl yy wqts
Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hands of raiders, until he had cast them out of his sight.
21
ארי אתפליגו בית ישראל על דבית יהודה ואמליכו ית ירבעם בר נבט ואטעי ירבעם ית ישראל מבתר פולחנא דיי וחיבינון חובא רבא:
rba khwba wkhybynwn dyy pwlkhna mbthr yshral yth yrbem waTey nbT br yrbem yth wamlykw yhwdh dbyth el yshral byth athplygw ary
For he tore Israel from David’s house; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king; and Jeroboam drove Israel from following Yahweh, and made them sin a great sin.
22
ואזלו בני ישראל בכל חובי ירבעם דעבד לא סטו מנה:
mnh sTw la debd yrbem khwby bkl yshral bny wazlw
The children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they didn’t depart from them
23
עד דאגלי יי ית ישראל מארעא בית שכנתיה כמא דמלל ביד כל עבדוהי נבייא וגלו ישראל מעל ארעהון לאתור עד יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma ed lathwr arehwn mel yshral wglw nbyya ebdwhy kl byd dmll kma shknthyh byth marea yshral yth yy dagly ed
until Yahweh removed Israel out of his sight, as he said by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria to this day.

ואייתי מלכא דאתור מבבל ומכותה ומעוה ומחמת ומספרוים ואותיב בקירוי שמרון חלף בני ישראל ויריתו ית שמרון ויתיבו בקירוהא:
bqyrwha wythybw shmrwn yth wyrythw yshral bny khlp shmrwn bqyrwy wawthyb wmsprwym wmkhmth wmewh wmkwthh mbbl dathwr mlka wayythy
The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, from Cuthah, from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria and lived in its cities.

והוה בשריות למיתבהון תמן לא הוו דחלין מן קדם יי וגרי יי בהון ית אריותא והוו קטלין בהון:
bhwn qTlyn whww arywtha yth bhwn yy wgry yy qdm mn dkhlyn hww la thmn lmythbhwn bshrywth whwh
So it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they didn’t fear Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

ואמרו למלכא דאתור למימר עממיא דאגליתא ואותבתא בקירוי שמרון לא הוו ידעין ית דין אלהא דארעא וגרי בהון ית אריותא והא אינון מקטלין יתהון בדלית אינון ידעין ית דין אלהא דארעא:
darea alha dyn yth ydeyn aynwn bdlyth ythhwn mqTlyn aynwn wha arywtha yth bhwn wgry darea alha dyn yth ydeyn hww la shmrwn bqyrwy wawthbtha daglytha emmya lmymr dathwr lmlka wamrw
Therefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The nations which you have carried away and placed in the cities of Samaria don’t know the law of the god of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them; and behold, they kill them, because they don’t know the law of the god of the land.”
27
ופקיד מלכא דאתור למימר אובילו לתמן חד מכהניא דאגלתינון מתמן ויזלון ויתבון תמן וילפון ית די אלהא דארעא:
darea alha dy yth wylpwn thmn wythbwn wyzlwn mthmn daglthynwn mkhnya khd lthmn awbylw lmymr dathwr mlka wpqyd
Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, “Carry there one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let him go and dwell there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land.”
28
ואתא חד מכהניא דאתגליאו משמרון ויתיב בבית אל והוה מליף יתהון אכדין ידחלון מן קדם יי:
yy qdm mn ydkhlwn akdyn ythhwn mlyp whwh al bbyth wythyb mshmrwn dathglyaw mkhnya khd watha
So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Yahweh.
29
והוו עבדין עמא עמא טעותיהון ואחיתו בבית במתא דעבדו שמרונאי עמא עמא בקירויהון דאינון יתבין תמן:
thmn ythbyn daynwn bqyrwyhwn ema ema shmrwnay debdw bmtha bbyth wakhythw Tewthyhwn ema ema ebdyn whww
However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.
30
ואנשי בבל עבדו ית סכות בנות ואנשי כות עבדו ית נרגל ואנשי חמת עבדו ית אשימא:
ashyma yth ebdw khmth wanshy nrgl yth ebdw kwth wanshy bnwth skwth yth ebdw bbl wanshy
The men of Babylon made Succoth Benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

ועואי עבדו נבחז וית תרתק ואנש ספרואי מוקדין ית בניהון בנורא לאדרמלך וענמלך טעות ספרוים:
sprwym Tewth wenmlk ladrmlk bnwra bnyhwn yth mwqdyn sprway wansh thrthq wyth nbkhz ebdw weway
and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
32
והוו דחלין מן קדם יי ועבדו להון מקצתהון כומרי במתא והוו עבדין להון בבית במתא:
bmtha bbyth lhwn ebdyn whww bmtha kwmry mqtsthhwn lhwn webdw yy qdm mn dkhlyn whww
So they feared Yahweh, and also made from among themselves priests of the high places for themselves, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
33
מן קדם יי הוו דחלין וית טעותהון הוו פלחין כנימוסי עממיא דאגליאו יתהון מתמן:
mthmn ythhwn daglyaw emmya knymwsy plkhyn hww Tewthhwn wyth dkhlyn hww yy qdm mn
They feared Yahweh, and also served their own gods, after the ways of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.
34
עד יומא הדין אינון עבדין כנימוסי קדמאי ליתינון דחלין מן קדם יי וליתינון עבדין כגזירתהון וכדחזי להון וכאוריתא וכתפקידתא דפקיד יי ית בני יעקב דשוי שמיה ישראל:
yshral shmyh dshwy yeqb bny yth yy dpqyd wkthpqydtha wkawrytha lhwn wkdkhzy kgzyrthhwn ebdyn wlythynwn yy qdm mn dkhlyn lythynwn qdmay knymwsy ebdyn aynwn hdyn ywma ed
To this day they do what they did before. They don’t fear Yahweh, and they do not follow the statutes, or the ordinances, or the law, or the commandment which Yahweh commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
35
וגזר יי עמהון קים ופקדינון למימר לא תדחלון לטעות עממיא ולא תסגדון להון ולא תפלחנון ולא תדבחון להון:
lhwn thdbkhwn wla thplkhnwn wla lhwn thsgdwn wla emmya lTewth thdkhlwn la lmymr wpqdynwn qym emhwn yy wgzr
with whom Yahweh had made a covenant and commanded them, saying, “You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;

אלהן קדם יי דאסיק יתכון מארעא דמצרים בחיל רב ובדרע מרמם יתיה תדחלון וקדמוהי תסגדון ועל מדבחיה תדבחון:
thdbkhwn mdbkhyh wel thsgdwn wqdmwhy thdkhlwn ythyh mrmm wbdre rb bkhyl dmtsrym marea ythkwn dasyq yy qdm alhn
but you shall fear Yahweh, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, and you shall bow yourselves to him, and you shall sacrifice to him.
37
וית קימיא וית דיניא ואוריתא ותפקידתא דכתב לכון תטרון למעבד כל יומיא ולא תדחלון לטעות עממיא:
emmya lTewth thdkhlwn wla ywmya kl lmebd thTrwn lkwn dkthb wthpqydtha wawrytha dynya wyth qymya wyth
The statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do forever more. You shall not fear other gods.
38
וקימא דגזרית עמכון לא תתנשון ולא תדחלון לטעות עממיא:
emmya lTewth thdkhlwn wla ththnshwn la emkwn dgzryth wqyma
You shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods.
39
אלהין מן קדם יי אלהכון תדחלון והוא ישיזיב יתכון מיד כל בעלי דבביכון:
dbbykwn bely kl myd ythkwn yshyzyb whwa thdkhlwn alhkwn yy qdm mn alhyn
But you shall fear Yahweh your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.”
40
ולא קבילו אלהין כנימוסיהון קדמאי אינון עבדין:
ebdyn aynwn qdmay knymwsyhwn alhyn qbylw wla
However they didn’t listen, but they did what they did before.
41
והוו עממיא האילין דחלין מן קדם יי וית צלמניהון הוו פלחין אף בניהון ובני בניהון כמא דעבדו אבהתהון אינון עבדין עד יומא הדין:
hdyn ywma ed ebdyn aynwn abhthhwn debdw kma bnyhwn wbny bnyhwn ap plkhyn hww tslmnyhwn wyth yy qdm mn dkhlyn haylyn emmya whww
So these nations feared Yahweh, and also served their engraved images. Their children did likewise, and so did their children’s children. They do as their fathers did to this day.
